Sporta Japan Corporation today announced the appointment of Stephanie Mawuli as an official ambassador for its women’s basketball international development initiative, PROJECT GLP ~Japan Got Next~.

Drawing on her extensive experience competing both in Japan and internationally, Mawuli expressed strong alignment with the project’s mission to support the next generation of athletes pursuing opportunities overseas. She will serve as an ambassador to help advance the program’s vision and inspire young players considering global challenges.

Stephanie Mawuli Comment

“I am honored to be appointed as an ambassador for PROJECT GLP.

I was deeply drawn to the vision of creating new opportunities for future athletes who strive to grow every day and pursue challenges overseas. Living away from a familiar environment while continuing to compete in basketball is never easy. However, I hope to encourage and support those who choose to take on that challenge.

I also hope that this initiative will help build new connections and create opportunities that carry forward to the next generation.”

CEO Yusuke Katoku Comment

“Stephanie Mawuli is a superstar in women’s basketball who has actively built her career overseas, including pursuing opportunities with the prestigious WNBA franchise, the New York Liberty, and competing in Spain’s top professional women’s league.

Her continued commitment to challenging herself internationally for the sake of growth is something I deeply admire and wholeheartedly support, as someone who is also pursuing opportunities abroad.

We are truly honored to welcome Stephanie as an ambassador. We look forward to leveraging the valuable insights she has gained through her international experience to strengthen and enrich this project.”

Sporta Japan Corporation will continue to work alongside Mawuli through PROJECT GLP to serve as a bridge between Japan and the global basketball community and to further contribute to the international growth of Japanese women’s basketball.
